Florida: Who wouldn't want to live here

NEW YORK , N.Y. -- Excluding their current state, if Americans had to say where they would most like to live, the top three mentions are states typically associated with sunshine and the beach: Hawaii (1), California (2) and Florida (3). These states have consistently been in the top 3 the last 8 times this question has been asked. However, this year marks the first time since 2001 that California has not been the top mention.
These are some of the results of The Harris Poll of 2,463 adults surveyed online between October 10 and 17, 2011 by Harris Interactive.

A very seasonal cluster

This is what happens when you give planners knives and other tools and turn them loose -- a "Pumpkin Industry Cluster." Credit goes to Osceola County Community Development's Pete Gousis, Brenda Ryan, Josh DeVries, Leigh Anne Wachter, Carlene Bowen and Tina Demostene.

Changes at Reunion brings new energy

When Annika Sorenstam launched her golf academy in 2006, Reunion Resort was a place of grand ambitions. Those were boom times. One of the LPGA's richest tournaments gave the locale south of Walt Disney World instant recognition. Vacation homes sold quickly. Owner Bobby Ginn was flush with cash.
All that dried up, of course, when the economy took a nose dive a few years later. Since then, Sorenstam has waited for someone to breathe some life into the property.
Promise arrived last month, when Reunion and its sister property in Palm Coast were united with venerable Innisbrook Resort near Tampa in a three-resort, nine-course alliance stretching from one Florida coast to the other.
"I think it's refreshing," Sorenstam said after Salamander Hotels & Resorts formally took over management. "This place has so much potential."
